What is Cassava Flour?
Cassava - pronounced [kuh-sah-vuh], also known as Yuca Root - has been a staple food for millions around the world for centuries. We dry and grind this delicious and sustainable root vegetable into a clean tasting flour you can count on again and again.
You may have heard of Cassava Flour's commonly known cousin, Tapioca. While they both come from the same root, they function quite differently both in baking and in your digestive system. It may help to think of Tapioca like cornstarch, and Cassava Flour like corn flour. Though from the same source, they are not usually interchangeable.
Otto's Naturals - Cassava Flour is also really easy to use! In most recipes either sub it in 1:1 by weight or, if your recipe calls for cups, just reduce flour volume by 25%. For example, if your recipe calls for 1 cup of All-purpose flour just use 3/4 cup of Otto's!
